2024 Youth Sailing programs are here. Get excited. Get sailing. Get wet!

Programs are offered for sailors age 7+ and should be chosen based on participant’s previous experience, skill, comfort level, and size.

We are currently offering 7 programs for Summer 2024: Beginner, Extended Beginner (2-wk), Intermediate, Venture, Opti Race, Intro to 420, and 420 Race.

Beginner Sail

An introduction to sailing with a focus on upwind sailing.

For sailors age 7-12 who are competent swimmers and have a willingness to learn.

1-week program

AM: 8:00-10:15

PM: 1:30-3:45

Want to get your feet wet and give sailing a try? Looking to learn in a safe, fun, supportive environment? This program is your intro to the basics of sailing and will provide a strong foundation for future programs. Perfect for first-time sailors, no prior experience necessary!

M-F, 8:00am-10:15am OR 1:30pm-3:45pm, offered for 7 sessions:

Session 1: June 24-June 28, $360

Session 2: July 1-5*, $288

Session 3: July 8-12, $360

Session 4: July 15-19, $360

Note: We recommend at least two sessions of Beginner Sail prior to transitioning to Intermediate Sail.

Extended Beginner

An introduction to sailing with a focus on upwind sailing.

For sailors age 7-12, who are competent swimmers, have a willingness to learn, and can commit to back-to-back weeks.

2-week program

AM: 10:30-12:45

This fun 2-week comprehensive program will take you from beginner to intermediate sailor! You’ll learn the basics and in week two, work toward single-handed proficiency. You’ll be right on track for our Intermediate Sail program!

M-F, 10:30-12:45, offered for 3 sessions:

Session 1: June 24-July 5*, $650

Session 2: July 8-19, $720

Session 3: July 22-August 2, $720

Intermediate Sail

Build on existing skills and learn rigging, docking, and righting a capsized boat.

For sailors who have completed at least 2 weeks of Beginner Sail and can successfully sail upwind alone.

1 or 2-week program

AM: 10:00-12:30

So you’ve completed 2 weeks of Beginner Sail and you’re ready for more? Ready to take your skills to the next level? In this program, you’ll learn more about the boats, how to ready them, and how to operate them!

M-F, 10:00am-12:30pm, offered for 4 sessions:

Session 1: 2-week program: June 24-July 5*, $650

Session 2: 2-week program: July 8-19, $725

Session 3: 2-week program, July 22-August 2, $725

Session 4: 1-week program, August 5-9, $365

Venture Sail

New and Improved!

With a focus on fun, we will learn basic navigation and build on existing skills while sailing a variety of boats in varied conditions. We can even paddleboard on days when the wind is too light for sailing!

For sailors who can successfully sail single-handedly in varied conditions, rig, dock, and right a capsized boat.

1 or 2-week program

PM: 1:15-4:15

Venture into an adventure with us! Venture Sail is your ticket to a lifelong love of sailing. There's no better place than on the water in one of our many boats. This class will enjoy our Optis, Zests, Quests, Lasers, 420's, Rhodes 19's and paddleboards!

M-F, 1:15pm-4:15pm, offered for 4 sessions:

Session 1: 2-week program: June 24-July 5*, $675

Session 2: 2-week program: July 8-19, $750

Session 3: 2-week program: July 22-August 2, $750

Session 4: 1-week program: August 5-9, $375

Opti Race

Tactics, strategy, and advanced boat handling. A focus on racing skills and option to compete.

For sailors with a desire to race and who have mastered the skills of Intermediate Sail.

2 or 3-week program

PM: 1:00-4:30

You’ve made it to the Opti end-game - congrats! This course will have you calling “starboard” in no time and provide the skills for competitive Opti racing! Advanced Opti sailors will be encouraged to compete in local regattas.

M-F, 1:00-4:30pm, offered for 3 sessions:

Session 1: 2-week program: June 24-July 5*, $630

Session 2: 2-week program: July 8-19, $700

Session 3: 3-week program: July 22-August 9, $1,050

Intro to 420

Learn the basics of boating safety, nomenclature, rigging, sail handling, and steering.

For sailors (105 lbs min) who have mastered the skills of Intermediate Sail OR middle schoolers looking to learn.

1 or 2-week program

AM: 9:45-12:15

Ready to move on from a single sail? Are you considering sailing in high school? Grab a friend and learn the ropes of 420 sailing in this foundation-building program! This program is a great stepping stone from Optis, but also a good place to start for older students ready to learn!

M-F, 9:45am-12:15pm, offered for 4 sessions:

Session 1: 2-week program: June 24-July 5*, $630

Session 2: 2-week program: July 8-July 19, $700

Session 3: 2-week program: July 22-August 2, $700

Session 4: 1-week program: August 5-9, $350

*No classes on Thursday, July 4th!

Note: 420s are two-person boats and students will be sailing with a partner each day. We strongly encourage students to sign up with a friend.

420 Race

Tactics, strategy, and advanced boat handling. Learn spinnakers and trapezes and use them competitively.

For sailors (105 lbs min) with the desire to race, who have mastered the skills of Intro to 420, and/or have demonstrated two-person boat sailing and racing skills.

2 or 3-week program

PM: 1:00-5:00

Ready to get those stopwatches ready? Interested in bettering your race skills? Time to learn spinnaker and trapeze? Calling all serious sailors to this summer’s 420 race program! Regattas encouraged!

M-F, 1:00pm-5:00pm, offered for 3 sessions:

Session 1: 2-week program: June 24-July 5*, $720

Session 2: 2-week program: July 8-19, $800

Session 3: 3-week program: July 22-August 9, $1,200
