Youth Rowing
Learn the fundamentals in a single and progress to the quad to row with others as a crew.
Ages 12-18. All levels of rowing experience welcome, beginners to advanced. Confident swimmers only.
1 or 2-week program
M-F, multiple 1.5hr AM time slots!
Are you ready to learn how to row? Have you already rowed and want to learn more this summer? Everyone learns/reviews balance, helm control and the parts of the stroke in our single sculls then may progress into the quadruple sculls to harmonize with others as a crew. This is a class you may repeat many times as we accommodate all skills levels with both singles and the quads.
Advanced youth scullers who are rising freshmen are encouraged to sign up for 7:45am Youth Rowing class, which runs parallel with our High School Development Speedwork class - there is opportunity to move up to the speed fleet if you are ready!
Please Note: Ages 12-18. All levels welcome. For the safety of all, rowers MUST be proficient and confident swimmers, watch the US Rowing Safety video with their parents prior to class and be physically able to get in and out of the boats without assistance (bend/reach over to side, step into center with balance, deep knee bend, and smoothly sit down.) Rowers must also be able to turn their heads and look over their shoulder behind them for steering while rowing.
