Hingham Maritime Center is pleased to announce that Sara Miller has been hired as their new Director of Rowing. Miller, who started this role on May 23rd, 2016, has an extensive background in both collegiate and community rowing and coaching, including significant experience in coastal rowing programs. About her new position, Miller states, “I am delighted to get back to my roots in community rowing and especially with the Hingham Maritime Center. I love working with adults and youth of all ages and experience and I feel that I have a lot to offer to this program and the broader community. There is huge potential and great energy at HMC and I am very excited to take on this role.”
Rosamund Conroy, HMC’s Executive Director, states, “Sara comes with a fantastic rowing resume and a real passion for community rowing. Between that and her open water rowing experience, we feel that she can really take our program from strength to strength and grow it to its full potential. We’ve spent a lot of time looking for the right person for this role and myself and the Board are looking forward to working with Sara as she takes our program to next step.”
Miller has big plans for HMC’s rowing program including expanding Learn to Row and Beginner options for both youth and adults, participating in regional rowing events, introducing new advanced rowing options for both youth and adults and expanding and diversifying the rowing fleet.
Miller adds, “HMC has offered rowing since 2003 and it has a long history of rowing on Hingham Harbor. There’s a solid foundation here but plenty of room for growth; this is a great combination for any rowing program and I’m excited and pleased to be named as its new director.”
