HMC is incredibly excited about our first sweep rowing entry in this year’s Head of the Charles Regatta, which will be held this upcoming weekend on October 22nd/23rd. HMC will be racing in the Women’s Senior Master 8+s category; this crew will race on Saturday, October 22nd at 10:11am, with a bow number of 29.
The crew for the race, from the stern is: Sara Miller (cox), Trish Baggott, Cynthia Galko, Nancy Clapp Kerber, Francesca Sadler, Kristin Feeley, Hayes Shea, Liz Merryweather and Patty Krumholtz. Martha Falvey is the starboard spare and Susie Wood is the port side spare.
The crew will be rowing in a navy blue boat with HMC’s white and red oars and HMC supporters are watching the women’s race from the shore between the Eliot Bridge and the Belmont Hill Windsor boathouse (i.e. the final stretch of the race course, click here for a link to the map of where we will be) or from the dock of the Belmont Hill Boathouse. Extra supporters are more than welcome (sailors too!) and you should plan to be there no later than 10am if you want to catch the race.
HMC also has another entry in HOCR, with single sculler Christopher Sharpe racing at 11:43am in the men’s senior master singles (bow number 26).
Some of our much loved summer rowing instructors will also be racing at HOCR; Phoebe Knox is stroking the Simmons varsity 8 in the Women’s Collegiate 8s (Sunday at 3:31pm, bow number 16), Sydney Blasetti is stroking the women’s club 8s for Boston University (Saturday at 1:51pm, bow number 17) and HMC volunteers Gillian Mehigan and Lauren Mitchell will be racing for Hingham High in the women’s youth 8s on Sunday at 10:05 am, bow number 43. The HHS boys will also be racing in the men’s youth 8s on Sundayat 12:43 pm, bow number 24.
We wish all of our rowers, as well as our college rowing coaches and the rowers we host from HHS Crew the best of luck at the world’s largest two day regatta!
