Updated Youth Summer Session 1 start date and snow day make-ups We can't wait to welcome back our youth sailors and rowers for the summer 2017 season; having these little folks back with us is the highlight of our year! With snow days finally behind us, the updated summer schedule is as follows: YOUTH Sailing:  Start Date:FRIDAY, June 23rd Session One make ups: Wednesdays- June 28th, July 5th and July 12th. HMC's advanced women's 8+ train for the 2016 Head of the Charles Regatta Registration for HMC's popular youth and adult spring rowing program is open as of April 1st, 2017. Registration for HMC's youth summer  A and B rowing program are also open at the same time. The adult summer sessions will be open on or before May 1st, 2017. HMC’s 2017 Youth Sailing Registrations are now live!

Following from a wonderful 2016 sailing season, Hingham Maritime Center (HMC) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for their Youth Summer Sailing program, as of Wednesday, March 1st, 2017.  HMC’s youth sailing programs are available to children and youth age seven to eighteen and a variety of levels—from beginner to advanced/race—are available across all ages. Popular programs include the Beginner Sailing program (starting at age seven) where children are taught water safety and basic seamanship in addition to how to sail as well as the Beginner Venture Sailing program, which follows a similar format but is for middle school/high school aged youth who are new to sailing or water sports.   Highlights from the 2016 sailing season included a $12,000 award from Hingham Sports Partnership which was used to…

Finish off your winter fitness routine by joining us for our final round of winter erging!   Registration for both Youth and Adult Session 3 Erging is now available online. The first part of this session will be held in the New North Church, before we move back to our homebase at the HMC boathouse in early April. Please note, we are also offering updated class times on Tuesdays and Thursdays (8:15-9:15am and 9:15am-10:15am) so that more rowers can join us. Dear Friends and Supporters of Hingham Maritime Center, We would like to announce some wonderful news: last week, on December 15th 2016, Hingham Maritime Center and the Town of Hingham entered into a thirty year lease for Barnes Wharf. This lease provides HMC with a period of time to raise the required funds and construct a new boathouse and dock facility, and then thirty years to operate a maritime center. The lease was the product of almost two years of hard work from the Board of Selectmen, the Town Administrator’s Office, Town Counsel, the School Department, the Harbormaster’s Office and our own board and staff. Dear Friends of HMC, We are writing to share some great news and to ask you to show your support for HMC during a critical time in our organization’s history.  Since March 2015, when Town Meeting authorized the Board of Selectmen to enter a lease with HMC for Barnes Wharf, we have been working hard to negotiate the terms.  The town took its obligation to strike a fair bargain for the citizens very seriously and they drove a hard bargain on a variety of points. Overall, the goal of providing a long-term home for community boating in Hingham and better wharf-side amenities have been addressed in this document and we are excited to commence this undertaking. HMC set to race in 51st Head of the Charles Regatta

HMC is incredibly excited about our first sweep rowing entry in this year's Head of the Charles Regatta, which will be held this upcoming weekend on October 22nd/23rd. HMC will be racing in the Women's Senior Master 8+s category; this crew will race on Saturday, October 22nd at 10:11am, with a bow number of 29. The crew for the race, from the stern is: Sara Miller (cox), Trish Baggott, Cynthia Galko, Nancy Clapp Kerber, Francesca Sadler, Kristin Feeley, Hayes Shea, Liz Merryweather and Patty Krumholtz. Martha Falvey is the starboard spare and Susie Wood is the port side spare. After a busy summer season, HMC is pleased to announce that registration for Youth and Adult Fall Rowing is now open. Hingham Harbor is absolutely beautiful in the fall and our sturdy fleet of Hudson quads and open water small boats means that we can continue rowing up until the end of October. Don't miss out and be sure to check out our fall class times and options below! The fall adult program begins on Monday, September 12th and it runs for six weeks until the weekend of October 22nd.
