The Board of Directors of Lincoln Maritime Center is pleased to announce that Rosamund T. Conroy has been named as their new Executive Director. Ms. Conroy will lead LMC’s continued efforts to provide community access to the waterfront through its extensive rowing, sailing and maritime education offerings.

Conroy is a Hingham native who returned to her hometown after living overseas for more than a decade. She has an academic background in waste management research and recently graduated from the University of Cambridge, UK with a doctorate in environment sociology. In addition to her academic work, Conroy also has an extensive background in competitive rowing, sports development and community outreach. She has also previously worked as a senior rowing instructor for LMC on an occasional basis since 2005.

Board President Rick Pedone states, “Hingham is so lucky that Rosamund has agreed to step up to lead Lincoln. She brings deep roots in Hingham, a passion for community boating, and most importantly, an incredible commitment to working to create a vibrant maritime center that will provide Hingham’s children and adults with the opportunity to get out on the water for recreation and competition.”

Conroy succeeds long-time Executive Director Ellen Gray, who is stepping down from her position in order to pursue other opportunities. Pedone adds, “Of course, we can’t extend enough thanks to Ellen for her leadership and tireless work over the years. She has played a key role in Lincoln’s development and we are all looking forward to her continued support of Lincoln in the coming years.”

About her new role, Conroy says, “I am delighted to be back in Hingham and to be given the opportunity to be at the helm of Lincoln Maritime Center. My time spent abroad has shown me just how fortunate we are to live by the sea and to have a community maritime center. Lincoln embodies everything dear to me—sports, community and the environment—and I will build on the excellent work that has already occurred in order to ensure that this wonderful resource is around for future generations.”

Conroy started this role on July 24th, 2014. For further information please email contact@lincolnmaritime.org
