Please join us for HMC's 2017 Holiday Social! This year's Holiday Social will be held on Thursday, December 7th, 2017 from 7:30pm to 10pm at the historic Ames Chapel (12 South St., Hingham, MA, 02043).  This event is a casual, fun and relaxed way to catch up with fellow rowers, sailors, parents and the HMC board/staff before the holiday season starts in earnest. Event tickets, which are available to adults age 21+, include nibbles, beer and wine. There will also be a silent auction of wonderful holiday gifts and some great door prizes for a few lucky raffle winners. Youth Fall Rowing Registration

Youth Fall Rowing 2017 Following from a wonderful summer rowing season, Hingham Maritime Center (HMC) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for their Youth Fall Rowing program, as of Friday, August 5th, 2017.  HMC’s youth rowing programs are available to youth age twelve to eighteen and across three levels: beginner, recreational and development. The program runs from September 11th-October 14th and for questions about the program, please feel free to contact HMC's Director of Rowing, Sara Miller on rowing@hinghammaritime.org. Dear Friends and Supporters of Hingham Maritime Center, We would like to announce some wonderful news: last week, on December 15th 2016, Hingham Maritime Center and the Town of Hingham entered into a thirty year lease for Barnes Wharf. This lease provides HMC with a period of time to raise the required funds and construct a new boathouse and dock facility, and then thirty years to operate a maritime center. The lease was the product of almost two years of hard work from the Board of Selectmen, the Town Administrator’s Office, Town Counsel, the School Department, the Harbormaster’s Office and our own board and staff. HMC set to race in 51st Head of the Charles Regatta

HMC is incredibly excited about our first sweep rowing entry in this year's Head of the Charles Regatta, which will be held this upcoming weekend on October 22nd/23rd. HMC will be racing in the Women's Senior Master 8+s category; this crew will race on Saturday, October 22nd at 10:11am, with a bow number of 29. The crew for the race, from the stern is: Sara Miller (cox), Trish Baggott, Cynthia Galko, Nancy Clapp Kerber, Francesca Sadler, Kristin Feeley, Hayes Shea, Liz Merryweather and Patty Krumholtz. Martha Falvey is the starboard spare and Susie Wood is the port side spare. After a busy summer season, HMC is pleased to announce that registration for Youth and Adult Fall Rowing is now open. Hingham Harbor is absolutely beautiful in the fall and our sturdy fleet of Hudson quads and open water small boats means that we can continue rowing up until the end of October.   Dear Youth Sailors, Rowers, Parents and Friends, Please join us for our upcoming End of Season Awards and Ice Cream Social, which will be held on Thursday, August 11th from 7pm to 8:30pm. Youth awards, fun, games, dancing and ice cream will help us to wrap up our 2016 summer youth season, and all are welcome to attend! There will also be a silent auction item available to bid on and the opportunity to purchase some new HMC merchandise, including car stickers and youth size apparel. The 'pie-face' jars will also make another appearance, where the children will have an opportunity to contribute towards the 'pie-ing' of one lucky instructor. HMC is pleased to announce that we will be holding our second annual Youth Party on the Wharf on Wednesday, July 20th from 7pm-9pm. Following from the fun and games at last year's event, all of our youth sailors and rowers (and parents!) are welcome to come to the party and enjoy a nice evening of snacks, music, dancing, games and crafts. The ticket price for the party is $5/per person and they can be purchased at the gate. All proceeds go towards our youth race programs and we hope to see everyone there! Miller hired as new Director of Rowing

  Hingham Maritime Center is pleased to announce that Sara Miller has been hired as their new Director of Rowing. Miller, who started this role on May 23rd, 2016, has an extensive background in both collegiate and community rowing and coaching, including significant experience in coastal rowing programs. About her new position, Miller states, "I am delighted to get back to my roots in community rowing and especially with the Hingham Maritime Center. I love working with adults and youth of all ages and experience and I feel that I have a lot to offer to this program and the broader community. Reminder: HMC's Blessing of the Fleet is this Sunday, June 12th at 5pm. HMC will be having its first Blessing of the Fleet on Sunday, June 12th at 5pm. We plan to kick off the event with a flotilla of boats that will make its way through the inner harbor, ending with a multi-faith Blessing. UPDATE: Due to anticipated high winds, we will not put out flotilla this year. Independent boaters are still welcome to arrive at Barnes Wharf by 5:30pm if the wind dies down and they would like their vessel blessed. The land portion of the event will proceed as planned. Spring Rowing Begins Soon!

HMC's adult spring rowing program will open on Monday, May 2nd, 2016 after a windy start to the spring. Luckily, the weather appears to be settling down and it looks like the crews will enjoy some mild and cool first weeks on the water. We are also pleased to be offering a variety of four-day and two-day Learn to Row classes for adult beginners who would like to try out the sport before committing to a full season. Youth rowing also begins soon, with youth rowing classes starting on Monday, May 9th and running for five weeks until June 9th. Youth rowing will be split into two levels this year (beginner/novice and intermediate/advanced) in the hopes that these levels will help our athletes to learn at their own pace.
