Hingham Maritime Center is excited to announce a new season of Indoor Rowing for Middle School, High School, and Adults. Registration opens on Monday, October 15th! All classes are held at the Sons of Italy Lodge, 88 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Hingham, MA 02043. Ample parking is available on site. Classes run on Mondays and Wednesdays with the first session beginning November 5th. See detailed description here.

Race Report: Row Around Bumpkin Regatta

Race report by R.Conroy Lincoln Maritime Center held its popular “Row Around Bumpkin Regatta” on Saturday, September 6th under blue skys and blustery winds, attracting a mixed field of over 64 youth and adult rowers from LMC, Hull, Hingham High and Cohasset Maritime Center. The morning of the race dawned bright and humid but a 6am inspection of the course revealed that conditions behind the island were not looking good. As the winds began to climb past 10 knots, Dusan Nikolic, LMC's Head of Rowing, went out again to Bumpkin at 7am and made the call - "Nope."  Undeterred, the race organizers switched gears and the Row Around Bumpkin was quickly adapted to a shorter 3 mile course that kept the racers out of as much rough water as possible,…

Conroy named as LMC’s new Executive Director

The Board of Directors of Lincoln Maritime Center is pleased to announce that Rosamund T. Conroy has been named as their new Executive Director. Ms. Conroy will lead LMC’s continued efforts to provide community access to the waterfront through its extensive rowing, sailing and maritime education offerings. Conroy is a Hingham native who returned to her hometown after living overseas for more than a decade. She has an academic background in waste management research and recently graduated from the University of Cambridge, UK with a doctorate in environment sociology. In addition to her academic work, Conroy also has an extensive background in competitive rowing, sports development and community outreach. She has also previously worked as a senior rowing instructor for LMC on an occasional basis since 2005. Board President Rick…

[caption id="attachment_634" align="alignleft" width="300"] Ginny Gray, LMC Founder, and Chris Mitchell, President of the Hingham-Hull Rotary Club, present a check to Ellen Gray, Executive Director of LMC to provide junior sailing and rowing scholarships for the 2014 season.[/caption] Lincoln Maritime Center has received a $7,000 grant from the Hingham-Hull Rotary Club to provide scholarships to junior sailors and rowers on a needs basis for the 2014 season.  The grant became available to Hingham-Hull Rotary Club  from the Mabelle Fullerton Grant.  The grant is managed by the Rotary Foundation of District 7950. Hingham-Hull Rotary Club President, Chris Mitchell, requested the grant for the Lincoln Maritime Center to offer scholarships to children who would not otherwise have access to the lessons.  Chris is an avid sailor who was unable to afford sailing lessons…
