A few of HMC’s finest…
HMC employs about 25 seasonal instructors across our sailing and rowing programs. Many of our instructors learned how to sail or row at the Center yet we always welcome fresh faces and safe, knowledgeable individuals onto our team.

Sailing: We opened our 2018 hiring cycle in November 2017 our hiring cycle is nearly complete. We are always interested in hearing from qualified applicants though! In particular, we are seeking out experienced, collegiate aged (and above) sailing instructors but we encourage all interested applicants to apply. We pay competitive, hourly rates and instructors are expected to have a current First Aid/CPR certificate in order to be considered for employment. Additional qualifications such as US Sailing Level 1 or Certified Lifeguard may result in additional compensation. (Please note: junior instructors must be at least 17 years old or an incoming high school senior in order to be considered for employment.)

Rowing: HMC is currently hiring for the rowing coaches at both the youth/adult and novice/experienced levels. We run both youth and adult programs and we typically a hire range of individuals, including experienced rowers who are looking to transition into coaching by gaining experience at the Center. Our on-water season starts in early May and runs until late October. Current collegiate rowers and recent graduates are also welcome to apply for summer only work, in line with their availability.

Volunteering: Would you like to gain some work experience in this field before seeking employment? Are you an experienced oarsperson, sailor or mariner with some time to give? Are you handy with fixing things (trailers, handrails, boats-you name it!).Do you want to get involved in fundraising or in supporting our development plans for Barnes Wharf?
If so, we’d love to hear from you and have you join our team as a volunteer. HMC relies on both youth and adult volunteers to support the many activities of the Center. This is especially true during this intense phase of planning and development and we welcome all helping hands.
